Key Stage 4
These three fully resourced lessons are tailor-made for Key Stage 4 students and offer a fascinating deep dive into the unique Antarctic biome.
Lesson 1: The Antarctic biome
Start things off by helping your students uncover why Antarctica matters on a global scale. They’ll explore the key characteristics of the world’s greatest wilderness and gain a solid understanding of its role in our planet’s systems.
Lesson 2: Antarctic food chains & webs
Next, students zoom in on the creatures that call this frozen world home. They’ll identify Antarctic species and build food webs that show just how connected life is, even at the bottom of the world!
Lesson 3: Biodiversity under threat
In the final lesson, students tackle the big question: What’s putting Antarctica at risk? They’ll learn about biodiversity, explore major threats to biodiversity and will get to present their ideas to the rest of the class.
All these lessons come with a scheme of work, lesson plan, teacher presentation and supporting resources.
